Jose Rafael Fernandez

JOSE RAFAEL FERNANDEZ has been Chief Operating Officer of Oriental
Financial Group Inc. since 2003 and Senior Executive Vice President of
Oriental Financial Group Inc. and President of Oriental Financial
Services Corp., the broker-dealer subsidiary of the group, since 2001.
He is in charge of implementing the ‘Oriental Way’ customer relationship
management program designed to take the company to the next level of
product/service innovation and growth. Mr. Fernndez is also the
President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Puerto Rico Growth
Fund, Inc. (a Puerto Rico registered, open-end, management investment
company). He was Executive Vice President of Oriental Financial Services
Corp. from 1999 to 2001, and Senior Vice President of such entity from
1997 to 1999. Also, he was Vice President of Sales and Marketing of
Oriental Financial Services Corp. from 1993 to 1997. He joined the bank
in 1991 as an Assistant Vice President of the Treasury Department and in
1992 was in charge of the bank’s sales and marketing efforts for
individual retirement accounts. Prior to joining Oriental, Mr. Fernndez
worked at Chase Manhattan Bank’s investment department in New York City
and Buenos Aires, Argentina, and began his career in 1985 at Drexel
Burnham Lambert as an investment executive. Mr. Fernndez holds a
Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana
and a Master’s degree in Business Administration, with a concentration
in Finance, from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Mr. Fernndez
is a member of the Board of Directors of Advanced Imaging Interventional
Center, Inc., Bayamn, Puerto Rico, and a former member of the Board of
Trustees of the Sacred Heart University, San Juan, Puerto Rico. He also
serves as President of the Puerto Rico Center for Social Concerns, a
local non-profit organization.
