John W. Holaday

John W. Holaday, Ph.D., is the Chairman , President, and Chief Executive
Officer of EntreMed, Inc., The Angiogenesis Company, a leader in the
research and development of antiangiogenic product candidates. He also
serves as an Associate Professor of Medicine at The Johns Hopkins
University School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland and as President of
the Shock Society. Dr. Holaday obtained his training at the University
of Alabama, receiving the BS degree, with a double major in Biology and
Chemistry, in 1966, and an MS degree in Molecular Biology in 1969. He
obtained a PhD degree with honors in Pharmacology from the University of
California, San Francisco, School of Medicine in 1977. Dr. Holaday
served as Chief,Division of Neuropsychiatry, Walter Reed Army Institute
of Research for 9 years. He is the co-founder of two pharmaceutical
corporations, Medicis Pharmaceutical Corporation, and EntreMed, Inc. Dr.
Holaday has edited or co-edited five books and has authored more than
200 papers and book chapters and 300 scientific abstracts. He serves as
Associate Editor, Circulatory Shock, and is on the editorial board of
six additional journals. He continues to serve on peer-review
committees evaluating grant applications for the NIH and the NIDA. He
holds over 20 U.S. and foreign patents, and his research interests
include the definition of mediators and mechanisms in circulatory shock
and pyschoneuroimmunology. He has been listed among the top 1000 cited
scientists in the world by the Science Citation Index.
