John L. Workman

JOHN L. WORKMAN is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
of U.S. Can Corporation. He is responsible for the organization’s
overall financial activity and policy implementation including
accounting practices and the conduct of its relationship with lending
institutions, trade creditors and the financial community. Mr. Workman
joined United States Can Company on August 10, 1998, with a vast array
of financial and systems experience. Prior to his appointment at U.S.
Can, Mr. Workman served most recently as Executive Vice President and
Chief Restructuring Officer at Montgomery Ward Holding Corporation, a
company 57% owned by GE Capital. Mr. Workman joined Ward in 1984 as a
general auditor and has held a variety of financial positions including
Vice-President-Controller and Vice President’Finance and Chief Financial
Officer. Prior to joining Ward, Workman was a partner in Main Hurdman
CPAs which later merged into KPMG where he served a broad range of
clients both in the public and private sectors. While there, he was
involved in several international acquisitions, as well as a variety of
cost analysis projects which resulted in major profitability gains for
his clients. Mr. Workman is a graduate of Indiana University and
received his MBA from the University of Chicago. Mr. Workman lives in
Glen Ellyn, IL with his wife Beth, and their two sons.
