James R. Lewis

JAMES R. LEWIS is President and Chief Executive Officer, Property
& Casualty Operations for CNA Financial Corporation. Mr. Lewis is
responsible for CNA’s $7.2 billion worldwide property and
casualty business, global specialty lines, risk management and
portions of technology operations. He joined CNA in 2001 as
Executive Vice President, U.S. Insurance Operations. Previously,
he was Senior Vice President, U.S. Field Operations at the St.
Paul Companies. He spent nine years at St. Paul/USFG, where he
held the positions of regional president, Northeast Region;
Senior Vice President, Personal Lines; and President, Small
Commercial. He was with CIGNA in various marketing, underwriting
and management positions for 17 years. He began his insurance
career at Aetna Life and Casualty as a marine and fire
underwriter.
