James P. Gorter

JAMES P. GORTER is Chairman of Baker, Fentress & Co. He was born
December 10, 1929. A.B. (Economics), Princeton University – 1951 Summa
Cum Laude; Woodrow Wilson Fellow London School of Economics – 1951-52.
United States Naval Officer 1952-1955. Joined Goldman, Sachs & Co. 1956;
became a General Partner in 1965. Served as a member of Goldman Sachs
Management Committee from 1976 to 1988. Also served as Co-Head of the
Investment Banking Division and Managing Partner of the Chicago office.
Became a Limited Partner in 1988. Currently Chairman of the Board of
Baker, Fentress & Company; Director of Consolidated-Tomoka Land Co.;
Director of Caterpillar Inc. Residence: Lake Forest, Illinois.
