H. Eric Bolton

H. ERIC BOLTON is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Mid-America
Apartment Communities, Inc. As a 20-year veteran of the real estate
industry, he has a wide range of both operational and financial
management experience. He was recognized nationally in 2002 as the
Executive of the Year by Multifamily Executive, one of the industry’s
leading publications. Mr. Bolton has been a member of Mid-America’s
management team since April 1994, having joined shortly after Mid-
America’s initial public offering. As Director of New Development he
contributed to the company’s aggressive growth period from early 1994 to
present, and in 1997 became President and Chief Operating Officer and a
Director of the company. Mr. Bolton has extensive multi-family real
estate experience in the areas of new development, redevelopment,
acquisitions/dispositions and property management. Mr. Bolton’s career
has spanned a variety of roles within the real estate and financial
services industry in the Dallas, Texas and Memphis, Tennessee, markets.
Prior to joining Mid-America, he spent seven years with the Trammell
Crow Company in Dallas, Texas, serving most recently as Executive Vice-
President and Chief Financial Officer for Trammell Crow Asset
Management. Mr. Bolton began his career after graduating from University
of Memphis with a BBA in Accounting, later earning an MBA with a
concentration in Finance and Real Estate. He is also a Certified Public
Accountant (inactive status) and an Associate of Risk Management. As a
leader in the real estate community, Mr. Bolton serves on the Board of
Directors of the National Multi-Family Housing Council and is an expert
and frequent speaker on several real estate and development related
topics. He is active within the Memphis community having served as Board
member for the Memphis Botanical Garden and a Partner Advisor to the
Mid-South Minority Business Council. He is currently active with the
Memphis Tomorrow organization.
