GORDON STITT is the president and CEO of Extreme Networks, Inc. and one
of the three founders of the fast growing data communications company. A
20-year industry veteran, Mr. Stitt has held marketing, sales and
management positions with leading computing and data communications
companies. Under Mr. Stitt’s leadership, Extreme Networks has grown to a
worldwide organization with a presence in more than 40 countries within
three years and captured its market lead position within two years. In
addition, Mr. Stitt managed the Extreme Networks’ successful initial
public offerings (IPOs). Prior to Extreme Networks, Mr. Stitt co-founded
Network Peripherals and served as vice president of marketing and vice
president and general manager of the OEM Business Unit. Under Mr.
Stitt’s leadership, Network Peripherals pioneered the market for high-
speed switches. Mr. Stitt also held the position of strategic partner
manager at Sun Microsystems and was responsible for managing Sun’s
strategic relationships with large systems vendors. Before joining Sun,
Mr. Stitt was with Ven-Tel, a start-up modem company, where he co-
developed one of the industry’s first 212 ‘A standard 1200 baud modems.
He founded Ven-Tel’s PC Products division and served as General Manager,
and was also responsible for all sales and marketing functions company-
wide. Stitt holds an MBA from the Haas School of Business, University of
California-Berkeley and a BSEE/CS from Santa Clara University.
