George Kerns

GEORGE KERNs, President and Chief Executive Officer of Digex,
Incorporated, is committed to driving the Digex strategy of
providing quality managed services to enterprise clients. He
further emphasizes excellence in Support and Management Services
as more corporate IT systems are migrating to a Network Computing
Environment. Mr. Kerns joined Digex in early 2001, and formerly
served as Senior Vice President of Service Delivery and
Operations where he held primary responsibility for running
Digex’s operations. Prior to Digex, Mr. Kerns was Chief Operating
Officer for HarvardNet. Previously, he served as Senior Vice
President and General Manager of customer services delivery for
BBN Planet/GTE Internetworking, where he established operational
procedures and data systems for managing large Web hosting,
virtual private network, firewall and data communications
environments. Prior, Mr. Kerns was Vice President of
Infrastructure and Engineering with EDS Personal Communications
and Chief Information Officer for Contel Cellular/GTE Mobile
Communications. During the first 12 years of his career, Mr.
Kerns was a consultant, primarily with large national accounting
firms. He brings more than 20 years of executive management and
data operations understanding to Digex. Mr. Kerns holds an MBA
from the University of Georgia and a BS in Mathematics from
Furman University.
