George Jacobs

GEORGE JACOBS was born in Brussels, 4th September, 1940. Joined UCB Group at 1970. After having held several positions among which Treasurer, Controller, Manager of a subsidiary in Spain, Corporate Finance Officer, General Manager of the Pharmaceutical Sector, he is currently Director of UCB S.A. and Chairman of the Executive Committee (since June 1987). Prior in joining UCB, Mr. Jacobs was an Economist at the International Monetary Fund, Washington D.C. from 1996 to 1969. Mr. Jacobs is also the President of UNICE, Member of the Direction Committee and Honorary Chairman of the Federation of Belgian Companies, Honorary Chairman of the Federation of Chemical Industries of Belgium, Director and Member of the Direction Committee of the “Fondation de l’Entreprise”, Chairman of the Belgo-Luxemburg-Polish Chamber of Commerce, Member of the Board of the American Chamber of Commerce in Belgium, and Member of the Board of the British Chamber of Commerce in Belgium. Mr. Jacobs’ extra-professional activities include holding a position as Chairman of the King Baudouin Foundation in the US, Vice-Chairman of the Foundation Europalia International, Chairman of “Quartier des Arts”, Brussels, Director of “Syndicat d’Initiative-Bruxelles Promotion”, Member of the Advisory Board Insead and Chairman of “Aider Autrui”. He hold a degree in Doctor at Laws (UCL, Belgium) (1962), Licentiate in Economic Sciences (UCL, Belgium) (1964) and Master of Arts in Economics (Univ. of California, Berkeley, USA) (1965). Mr. Jacobs is Married, with three children.
