Richard Schenz

DR RICHARD SCHENZ is the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the
Board of OMV AG. Dr Schenz graduated from the University of Vienna,
with a ‘Diplom-Ingenieur’ in 1964 and a ‘Doktor der Technischen
Wissenschaften’ in 1967. In 1969 he was made in charge of Operations
Research of downstream business (refining and marketing) at OMV. In
1971, he became in charge of production planning at the refinery of OMV
in Schwechat, and in charge of expansion/investment programs. In 1979,
he was head of ‘integrated production planning’ and project leader of
various major investment programs in refineries and petrochemicals. He
was appointed Director in 1985, Member of the Managing Board in 1988,
and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board in 1990. Shortly after, he
became Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Executive Board,
Chairman of Association of the Austrian Petroleum Industry, and
‘Kommerzialrat’ of Chamber of Commerce. In 1996 he was appointed
President of Viennese Association of Industrialists, and Senator of the
University of Technology in Vienna. In 1999, Dr Schenz received The
Grand Decoration of Honour for Services to the Republic of Austria.
