DEREK T. CHALMERS is a co-founder of Arena Pharmaceuticals and
has served as Vice President, Research since April 1997 and as a
Director of the company since April 2000. From 1994 to January
1997, Dr. Chalmers directed various research programs at
Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company. From
1990 to 1994, Dr. Chalmers was engaged in research at the
University of Michigan. Dr. Chalmers holds a PhD in Neuroscience
and Neuropharmacology from the University of Glasgow, Scotland.
