DENNIS E. CONDON is President of The Plastic Surgery Company. Mr. Condon
has worked in the healthcare industry for 25 years, and he has held both
domestic and international management positions with both American
Hospital Supply Corporation and Mentor Corporation. His career has
spanned medical device experience in six different surgical specialties
including ophthalmology, neurosurgery, urology, general surgery,
bariatric surgery, orthopedic surgery, and eight years as President of
the largest medical device supplier to plastic surgeons, the Plastic
Surgery Division of Mentor Corporation. During his leadership position
with Mentor Corporation, the Plastic Surgery Division grew from $25
million to $125 million. Mr. Condon piloted the company through the
breast implant crisis, where substantial class action litigation
threatened the industry and ultimately bankrupted Dow Corning before the
products were exonerated by numerous panels and scientific studies. Mr.
Condon became a spokesperson for the breast implant industry and was
continuously given podium time at the National Plastic Surgery Society
meetings where he was chosen to update the 5,000 Board Certified plastic
surgeons on the status of the class action litigation and the FDA
regulatory issues associated with the breast implant products. Mr.
Condon’s constant interaction with the American Society of Plastic
Surgery and the American Society of Aesthetic Surgery earned him close
relationships with the societies’ leadership and gained him
unprecedented business credibility, as he co-managed the intense
regulatory scrutiny over the industry while growing the company five-
fold. His business acumen operating under crisis conditions resulted in
Mentor Corporation ultimately emerging as one of only two companies that
successfully survived the breast implant crisis. Mr. Condon’s division
directed comprehensive consumer awareness campaigns that included public
relations campaigns, call centers, direct-to-consumer mailings and
numerous radio and newspaper interviews. Mr. Condon combines a
successful career in the medical device industry with in-depth
experience in consumer education and consumer confidence programs.
