David L. Sokol

DAVID L. SOKOL, is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of MidAmerican
Energy Holdings Company (the successor of CalEnergy Company, Inc.). In
February 1991, Mr. Sokol joined the Company as Chairman, President and
Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Sokol earned his Bachelor of Science degree
in Civil Engineering from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1978,
and holds an honorary doctorate degree from Bellevue University,
Bellevue, Nebraska. Additionally, Mr. Sokol is a member of the Nebraska
Society and the Delaware Association of Professional Engineers. Before
joining the Company, he was director, President and Chief Executive
Officer of Ogden Projects, Incorporated. Prior to Ogden, Sokol worked
for Henningson, Durham and Richardson, Inc., an architecture,
engineering and project management firm and Citicorp. Mr. Sokol is Co-
Chairman for Campaign Nebraska for the University of Nebraska
Foundation; a member of the Metropolitan Omaha Convention, Sports and
Entertainment Authority; and serves on the Board of Governors, Knights
of Ak-Sar-Ben and the Board of Directors, Creighton University. In
addition, Mr. Sokol’s community service includes board memberships, as
well as participation and support of many philanthropic efforts
including: Nebraska State Historical Society Foundation; College World
Series of Omaha, Inc.; Omaha Airport Authority; Strategic Command
Consultation Committee; Joslyn Art Museum; River City Roundup and Rodeo;
Nebraska Easter Seal Society; Mount Michael Abbey High School;
Archdiocese of Omaha; Girls, Inc.; Mid-America Council, Boy Scouts of
America; and United Way of the Midlands. Mr. Sokol enjoys playing
hockey, hunting, running, horseback riding and maintains various
ranching and cattle-raising operations near Valentine, Nebraska. He and
his wife, Peggy, have two children: Kelly and David Jr. (‘D.J.’).
