Dale O. Shwed

DALE O. SHWED is President, CEO and a Director of Baytex Energy Ltd.
which began operations in June of 1993. Mr. Shwed graduated from the
University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology in
1980, whereupon he joined Amoco Canada Petroleum Corporation Ltd. for
four years as an exploration geologist. In 1984, he joined Westmin
Resources Ltd., as an exploration geologist. In 1985 he joined Inverness
Petroleum Ltd. as an exploration and development geologist. In 1986, Mr.
Shwed formed his own consulting, exploration and development company,
ELAD Resources Corporation. In 1987, he founded and was president of
Tygas Industries Ltd., a public oil and gas company. On the subsequent
merger of Tygas with Huntington Resources Ltd., a private company, in
the spring of 1988, Mr. Shwed left to manage the operations of ELAD.
From June, 1988 to June, 1993, Mr. Shwed was also employed by the
Canadian division of Ceja Corporation, a private exploration and
production company based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mr. Shwed managed Ceja’s
Canadian exploration and development in central Alberta before forming
Baytex Energy.
