Barry M. Olliff

BARRY M. OLLIFF’s career has spanned over thirty years within the
investment trust (closed-end fund) sector. He began his career with
Denny Brothers, ultimately Pinchin Denny, as a market maker in the
sector in 1964. In 1979 he moved to Laing & Cruikshank as a member of
their investment trust department. He became a director of Laing &
Cruikshank in 1984 prior to its being taken over by Mercantile House. In
June 1987, Barry Olliff established Olliff & Partners PLC. An outgrowth
of this venture then followed in 1991 with the formation of City of
London — an investment management firm specializing in the management
of emerging markets assets through closed-end country and regional
funds. As chief portfolio manager, he is currently responsible for some
$1 billion of Emerging Market Country Fund assets.
