Barbara C. Friedman

Barbara C. Friedman is a Senior Vice President and leads the portfolio
management team of John Hancock Special Opportunities Fund. She is also
head of the multi-sector growth and mid-cap growth strategy teams.
Prior to joining John Hancock Funds in 1998, Ms. Friedman was a Vice
President and Portfolio Manager at Fleet Investment Advisors. Earlier
she was a Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Loomis, Sayles and
Company, as well as a Partner and Portfolio Manager at Harvard
Management Company. Ms. Friedman has over 25 years of experience in the
investment business. Ms. Friedman holds a Bachelor’s degree from Smith
College and a Master’s degree in Economics from New York University.
She is also a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Chartered Investment
Counselor.
