Andre P. Buchel

ANDRE P. BUCHEL is President and CEO, Sulzer Medica Ltd. Mr. Buchel
completed his studies at the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne
where he graduated as a Mechanical Engineer and thereafter continued
working at the Institute of Thermodynamics. In 1963 he joined Escher
Wyss, Zurich where he worked in the Research Department. After further
training in Ravensburg and Sheffield, he joined Escher Wyss Belgium and
relocated to Brussels. In 1969, he moved to Brown Boveri-Sulzer AG in
1974 and, thereafter, Head of Sales Turbocompressors in 1976. From 1980
to 1987, he was President of Sulzer Bros. Inc. in New York. Thereafter,
he returned to Switzerland and became responsible for the Asia/Australia
region of the Sulzer International Group. Since March 1, 1990 he has
been President of the Sulzer – Medica Group and a member of the
Corporate Executive Management of Sulzer Ltd.
