VICTOR W. HUGHES, JR, is the Chief Financial Officer of Gastar
Exploration Ltd. and was with the predecessor private company. Mr.
Hughes has extensive oil industry and financial markets experience. His
15 years of oil industry experience, primarily with British Petroleum,
include successful technical, commercial, strategic planning, operating,
and financial assignments on North American and international projects.
He also has six years of experience in the financial services industry,
most recently as an Executive Director in the research department of
CIBC World Markets, evaluating, advising, and raising funds for public,
small capitalization exploration and production companies. After
obtaining a BS and MS in Engineering from the University of Illinois, he
obtained an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago and attended
the Petroleum Engineering graduate program at the University of Houston.
Mr. Hughes was an author of the 1992 National Petroleum Council natural
gas study, a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and is a
