GRANT W. KURTZ is Chief Executive Officer of The Advest Group, Inc. Mr.
Kurtz received a BA from Ohio Wesleyan University, and studied at the
Securities Industry Institute of the Wharton School of Finance in 1981.
Mr. Kurtz is a 35-year veteran of the securities industry. He joined
Advest as a Regional Sales Manager in 1985. In 1987 he moved to Hartford
as National Sales Manager and was elected to the Board of Directors of
The Advest Group, Inc., in 1989. In 1990 he was elected President of
Advest, Inc., and in 1995, President of The Advest Group, Inc., and on
April 1, 1999, became Chief Executive Officer. Prior to Advest, Mr.
Kurtz was with The Ohio Company for 20 years. He is a member of the
Board of Directors of Advest Group, Inc., The Securities Industry
Association, and the Connecticut Council on Economic Education. Mr.
Kurtz also serves on the boards of The Connecticut Business and Industry
Association, The Connecticut Capitol Region Growth Council, The
Connecticut Rivers Council of Boy Scouts of America, and The Boys and
Girls Clubs of Hartford, Inc. He is Chairman of the Securities Industry
Association's Regional Firms Committee, a member of the NYSE Regional
Firms Advisory Committee, and a former member of the National
Association of Securities Dealers District Committee. Profile
