LIU-ER CHEN is Vice President and Portfolio Manager for the Evergreen
Health Care Fund. He also co-manages the Evergreen Emerging Markets
Growth Fund. Mr. Chen grew up in China and received advanced medical
training there, winning the prestigious K. C. Wong Scholarship. Mr. Chen
was ranked number one in the field of neuroscience and later received
intensive training in neuroscience at Cornell University. He has
complemented his comprehensive academic knowledge with extensive
experience in the medical devices area and pharmaceuticals, working for
three years in the strategic planning area of US and German
pharmaceutical companies. Subsequently, he received his MBA at Columbia
University. Mr. Chen is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He has been a
Vice President and Portfolio Manager with Evergreen since joining the
