Wj Communications, Inc. – Malcolm J. Caraballo

Malcolm J. Caraballo is President, Chief Executive Officer and a Director of WJ Communications, Inc., created in January 2000 through the recapitalization of Watkins-Johnson Company. WJ Communications is an industry leader of innovative transmission products for broadband communications networks, which include fiber optic, broadband cable and wireless communications. Prior to the recapitalization, Mr. Caraballo was President of the commercial communications business unit of Watkins-Johnson Company. He was appointed to this position in 1993. At that time, the focus of the business unit was on RF and microwave products for defense and space applications. The technology and resources of this business unit were subsequently refocused on commercial communications applications. Based upon the tremendous success of this initiative, the defense business was ultimately divested. Prior to his appointment as President of this business unit, Mr. Caraballo was Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the companys defense business. These product lines included modular components, tunable devices and integrated subsystems. Prior assignments included a variety of product line, program, engineering, and manufacturing management responsibilities as well as design engineering positions. Mr. Caraballo joined WJ Communications in 1977 as a member of the technical staff. He received a BSEE from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from the University of Santa Clara.
