Burton Joyce – Terra Industries Inc (tra)

BURTON M. JOYCE is the Director and Vice Chairman of Terra Industries. He was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Terra Industries Inc. in May 1991, positions from which he recently retired, and is also a member of Terra's Board of Directors. Mr. Joyce joined Terra in mid-1986 as Chief Financial Officer and became President of Terra's agribusiness subsidiary in December 1986. He became Terra Industries' Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in December 1987. Prior to joining Terra, Mr. Joyce spent nine years in senior executive positions in general management and finance with United Technologies Corporation in both the US and Europe. In addition, he has worked at Compugraphic Corporation, Airco, Inc., and Ernst & Ernst in various finance capacities. Mr. Joyce currently serves on the Board of Directors of IPSCO Inc., a North American steel producer, where he is non-executive Chairman, and on the North American Agribusiness Advisory Board of Rabobank. He is Chairman of the American Methanol Institute and is a past Chairman of The Fertilizer Institute. He has previously served as Vice Chairman of both the Agricultural Retailers Association and of the American Crop Protection Association. In the past, he has also served on non-profit boards including local Chambers of Commerce, the Swiss American Chamber of Commerce, and the Food and Agriculture Policy Committee of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He has also been active on the Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve Advisory Board and on the Siouxland Foundation.
