Asghar Mostafa – Advanced Switching Communications (ascx)

ASGHAR D. MOSTAFA, President and CEO of Advanced Switching Communications (ASC), has more than 20 years experience in executive management and product development in the communications and networking industries. Mr. Mostafa founded ASC Inc. in October 1997, with the vision of bringing the next-generation of cost-effective and innovative broadband access platforms to help service providers around the world meet the exploding demand for broadband services. The company completed its IPO in October of this year. An experienced entrepreneur with an extensive technical background, Mr. Mostafa previously co-founded ISDN Systems Corporation (ISC), a leading provider of ISDN and frame relay equipment. Mr. Mostafa served as President and CEO of ISC until U.S. Robotics, now part of 3Com, acquired the company. While at 3Com, Mr. Mostafa led the company's efforts in the xDSL arena. Mr. Mostafa also served as Director of Business Development for U.S. Robotics' network systems division. Mr. Mostafa was Vice President of Product Development for the telecommunications division of Data General where he oversaw development of T-1 multiplexing and data networking, and led a joint development effort to create a next-generation ISDN access product for Nippon Telephone and Telegraph. Prior to Data General, Mr. Mostafa co- founded and served as Director of Engineering for ICOM, a developer of T-1 multiplexors. Mr. Mostafa is a long-standing member of IEEE and ACM and has served on the boards of directors of several networking and communications companies.
