DAVID A. NIELD is Chairman, Chief Executive Officer & President of
Canada Life Financial Corporation. Mr. Nield joined Canada Life in 1960
upon graduation from the University of Manitoba. Following successful
tenures in the Pension, Group Life and Actuarial areas of the company he
became Vice-President and Director, Group Division in 1979; Executive
Vice-President & Chief Actuary in 1985; President, COO & Director in
1988; President, CEO & Director in 1990 and Chairman, President and
Chief Executive Officer & Director in 1998. Active in industry and
charitable groups, Mr. Nield is a Director of the World Wildlife Fund
Canada, past Chairman and Director of the Canadian Life and Health
Insurance Association and serves as President of the National Sanitarium
