EARL M. 'DUKE' COLLIER, Jr. is President of Genzyme Biosurgery, a newly
formed division of Genzyme Corporation. Mr. Collier joined Genzyme
Corporation in 1997, though his relationship with Genzyme dates to 1990,
when, as a consultant, he helped launch the company's first major
product, Ceredase'. Mr. Collier currently serves as Executive vice
president of Genzyme Corporation and as President of Genzyme Biosurgery.
The new division, which has its own series of stock, is focused on the
rapidly emerging market for biotechnology products that improve or
replace surgery. Prior to joining Genzyme, Mr. Collier was a partner at
the Washington DC law firm of Hogan & Hartson. He has served as
president of Vitas Healthcare Corporation, and vice president, corporate
Development and general counsel of Caremark, Inc. He also served as
Deputy Administrator of the Health Care Financing Administration. Profile
