Steven Goldby is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Symyx
Technologies, Inc. the leading company applying combinatorial methods to
materials science. Prior to this, he served for more than 10 years as
Chief Executive Officer of MDL Information Systems, Inc., the enterprise
software company that pioneered scientific information management.
Before joining MDL, Mr. Goldby held various management positions,
including Senior Vice President at ALZA Corporation, from 1968 to 1973,
and was President of Dynapol, a specialty chemical company, from 1973 to
1981. He currently serves as a Director of Aurigin, EOS Biotechnology,
PeopleSoft, and SurroMed, Inc. Mr. Goldby holds an AB in Chemistry from
the University of North Carolina and a JD from Georgetown University Law
