WILLIAM A. HAWKINS joined Novoste in June 1998 as President, having
first been elected as a Director in May 1998. He was elected to Chief
Executive Officer of Novoste, effective April 1, 1999. Mr. Hawkins came
to Novoste with 20 years of experience in the medical device industry,
having held various executive positions at American Home Products (AHP),
Johnson & Johnson (J&J), Guidant, and Eli Lilly. These past leadership
roles included: Corporate Vice President of American Home Products and
President of its Sherwood Davis & Geck division; President of Ethicon
Endo-Surgery (J&J); Vice President of US operations for Guidant and
President of Devices for Vascular Intervention, a Guidant subsidiary;
and President and CEO of IVAC Corporation (Eli Lilly). Mr. Hawkins holds
a BS in Engineering and Biomedical Engineering from Duke University and
