Christopher Thompson – Gold Fields Limited (gold)

CHRISTOPHER M.T. THOMPSON has held the post of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Gold Fields Limited since September 1998. Prior to joining Gold Fields, Mr. Thompson was extensively involved in venture capital investing in the gold mining industry for 15 years, most recently as CEO of Castle Group Limited in Denver, Colorado, managing the successful Emerging Markets Gold Fund, where he acquired extensive experience in the development of new mines around the world. In the years prior to this, he spent eight years with the Anglo American Corporation in Canada and South Africa in various executive and directoral capacities, principally related to Anglo American gold interests in South Africa and base metal interests in Canada. From 1978 to 1982 he was an Analyst and Director of Gordon Securities in Canada. Mr. Thompson holds a BA from Rhodes, South Africa and an MSc Management Studies from Bradford, UK. Profile
