REUBEN F. RICHARDS, JR. joined EMCORE Corporation in October 1995 as its
President and Chief Operating Officer and became Chief Executive Officer
in December 1996. Mr. Richards has been a Director of the company since
May 1995. From 1992 to 1994, Mr. Richards was a Principal with Hauser,
Richards & Co., a firm engaged in corporate restructuring and management
turnarounds. From 1986 to 1992, Mr. Richards was a Director at
Prudential-Bache Capital Funding in its Investment Banking Division.
From December 1994 to December 1999 he was a member and President of
Jesup & Lamont Merchant Partners, the company's largest shareholder. Mr.
Richards serves on the Boards of the University of New Mexico School of
Engineering and Sandia National Laboratories External Review Panel.
Awards and achievements include being named one of the top 20 businesses
in New Jersey by NJ Business Weekly; named to Barron's Top 10 IPO
Performers list in 1997; and the 2000 New Jersey Technology Fast 50
