DR. ROBERT PORTMAN, Chairman of PacificHealth Laboratories, Inc.,
received a PhD in Biochemistry from Virginia Tech. He then worked as a
Senior Scientist for Schering-Plough Corporation and Hoechst-Roussel
Pharmaceuticals Inc. In 1974 Dr. Portman founded MED Communications, a
company which specialized in developing marketing and educational
programs for manufacturers of prescription, hospital and diagnostic
products. MED's clients included Sandoz Pharmaceuticals, Johnson &
Johnson, Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics and Abbott Laboratories. In 1988 Dr.
Portman founded a healthcare consumer agency whose clients included
Carnation, Sandoz and AT&T. In 1995 Dr. Portman founded PacificHealth
Laboratories, Inc. PHLI is a science-based nutrition company focused on
the development of proprietary products in sports nutrition, weight loss
