STEVE MORGAN, OBE is the Founder and Chairman of Redrow Group Plc, a
FTSE 250 company based at St David's Park, Flintshire. Mr. Morgan
completed his education at Colwyn High School, Colwyn Bay where he moved
to, aged 13 years, from his native Liverpool. After completing an OND in
Construction at Liverpool Polytechnic in 1972, he spent two years
gaining experience at site managerial level with a Liverpool Civil
Engineering Company before starting Redrow at the age of 21. Initially
Redrow concentrated on civil engineering and general building
contracting until 1982, when a downturn in the industry led to a move
into private housing. Today Redrow is one of the UK's most successful
homebuilders completing in excess of 3,000 new homes per annum. In
addition to homebuilding, the Group is also involved in commercial
property development. In the financial year to June 1999, Redrow
completed 3,135 new homes achieving a turnover of GBP341.6 million and a
pre-tax profit of GBP55.6 million. Mr. Morgan was awarded the OBE in
1992 for his services to the construction industry. Profile
Mr. Morgan: The company was founded by myself in November 1974,
initially as a civil engineering contractor. It grew
