WEST SHELL, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, is an advertising and
marketing veteran with more than 20 years experience in sales promotion,
direct marketing and packaged goods branding. As an Account Executive at
Grey Advertising in New York, he was instrumental in shaping such
Procter & Gamble brands as Downy Fabric Softener and Joy Dishwashing
Liquid into household names. From there he moved on to the client side
of the business, leading the marketing efforts for Johnson’s Baby
Shampoo at Johnson&Johnson. In 1983, Atari recruited West to save their
ailing consumer electronics division. Mr. West was co-founder of the
Pacific Marketing Group, a San Francisco-based sales promotion and
direct marketing agency. At PMG, he was essential in developing
effective integrated marketing campaigns for clients. Under his
leadership, PMG grew to become the largest independent marketing firm on
the West Coast. Eventually Mr. West sold PMG to D’Arcy, Masius, Benton &
Bowles and renamed the company Highway One Communications. He has served
as CEO of Netcentives since August 1997.
