W. Hayne Hipp

W. HAYNE HIPP is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of The
Liberty Corporation, the parent organization of Liberty Life Insurance
Company, Cosmos Broadcasting, and Liberty Insurance Services.
Headquartered in Greenville, S.C., The Liberty Corporation is listed on
the New York Stock Exchange. Mr. Hipp serves as a Director of Wachovia
Corporation and SCANA Corporation. He earned a degree in English from
Washington and Lee University, and an M.B.A. from the Wharton Graduate
School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. He is a Chartered Life
Underwriter. Mr. Hipp began his professional career with Metropolitan
Life Insurance. He joined Liberty Life in 1969, serving in positions of
increasing responsibility in Marketing and Investments. He became the
Chief Executive Officer of The Liberty Corporation in 1979.
