Thomas R. Brumley

THOMAS R. BRUMLEY is President and Chief Executive Officer of Area
Bancshares Corp., a multi-bank holding company consisting of 17
affiliate banks with more than $2.1 billion in assets headquartered in
Owensboro, Kentucky. Mr. Brumley has held his current position since
1989. He began his banking career at First National Bank in Louisville
in 1957 as a Messenger, Mail Clerk and Management Trainee. After working
part-time for four years during college at the Taylor County Bank, he
was a Bank Examiner for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. From 1967 to 1976,
he was Executive Vice President and President of American Bank in New
Albany, Indiana. He also served as Chairman, President and CEO of First
State Bank in Greenville, Kentucky, and from 1982 to 1989, he was
President and CEO of Owensboro National Bank. Mr. Brumley is very active
in civic and community affairs. He is a graduate of Campbellsville
College with a BS in Business Administration and a double major in
Accounting and General Business. He also attended the University of
Illinois School for State Bank Examiners and the Graduate School of
Banking at Louisiana State University.
