STEVE W. CHADDICK is Senior Vice President, Strategy and Corporate
Development, responsible for creating CIENA’s marketing programs and
strategic vision and for building corporate alliances. He was previously
Senior Vice President of Products and Technologies, and Vice President
of Product Development for CIENA since joining it in 1994. He was
responsible for defining the MultiWave family of dense wavelength
division multiplexing products, building the R&D team, and bringing the
MultiWave products to market. He holds several patents in the area of
WDM systems and techniques, and serves on the Advisory Board of the
School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech, and has
25 years of experience in the Telecom and related industries. Prior to
joining the company, Mr. Chaddick was Vice President of Engineering at
AT&T Tridom, a company he co-founded in 1983 and which was acquired by
AT&T in 1988. AT&T Tridom focused on the development of very small
aperture satellite terminal systems. Mr. Chaddick was responsible for
all product development at AT&T Tridom, including hardware, embedded
systems software and network management software. Prior to founding
Tridom, he held numerous positions in engineering, engineering
management, and general management in the communications industry. Mr.
Chaddick received both his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical
Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and is a member of
the Georgia Tech Academy of Distinguished Engineering Alumni.
