Stephen D. Hayter

STEPHEN D. HAYTER is President and CEO of Empyrean Diagnostics, Inc.
Prior to joining the company, he was President of Sedona Biotechnology
which was a consulting company and Mr. Hayter consulted to American,
Canadian and Japanese health care companies. During this period, Mr.
Hayter has had consulting agreements with Fisher Scientific USA, Colby
Group International Japan, Durimport Marine Canada and has worked with a
company in Japan to assess the potential of their instrument in the
North American markets. He was Executive Vice President, Diagnostic
Division of Centocor, Inc. from 1993-1994. Mr. Hayter was responsible
for all aspects of the Diagnostics Division globally, and in 1993,
improved performance of the division at 5.7% in sales and 22.7% in
profit. He was Founder and President/Executive Vice President of ADI
Diagnostics, Inc./Cambridge Biotech Corp. from 1987-1993. In 1991 Mr.
Hayter determined that ADI needed to strategically partner with an
American company that provided a complimentary fit. Cambridge Biotech
was selected. To integrate the two organizations, it was agreed that
S.D. Hayter would assume, for a minimum period of one year, the position
at Cambridge of Executive VP responsible for all diagnostic operations
in N. America and Europe, including ADI. He spent thirteen of fifteen
years in Abbott’s diagnostic division and contributed to the division’s
spectacular growth from $12,000,000.00 to over $1,000,000,000.00 during
this period in several capacities as outlined below. Prior to that, he
was Executive Vice President, Dainabot KK, Osaka, Japan from 1985-1987.
He was Director, Diagnostics Division, Canada from 1979-1985;
responsible for sales, marketing, product assembly, and distribution.
During this period Mr. Hayter grew revenues from $8,000,000.00 to
$35,000,000.00. The Canadian diagnostics group consistently won awards
for marketing excellence and was annually recognized as having the best
P&L profile in the international diagnostic division. He was Regional
Sales Manager, Canada, Denver and Los Angeles from 1973-1979. Regional
teams won awards every year and Region of the Year in both 1975 and
1979. Every year regional teams exceeded sales objectives. Prior to
that, he was Sales Representative, Arizona and New Mexico from 1972-1973
where he achieved 365% of goal in 1973 and won the Sales Person of the
Year award as well as the Corporate President’s Award for outstanding
contribution in 1973. Mr. Hayter is married and has one child. His
personal interests include golf, skiing, hiking & reading.
