SIMON BAZALGETTE is the Chief Executive Officer of Music Choice Europe
Plc. Simon Bazalgette has spent close to 20 years working in the
entertainment and new media industry. Now one of the leading authorities
on music distribution and new media marketing, he has headed up music
choice since July 1999. The principle tenet of the company vision is
ubiquity and ease – one click music that you can access anywhere. This
has been translated by Mr Bazalgette into ‘accessibility of intellectual
property.’ Mr Bazalgette joined Music Choice in 1993 as Director of
Strategy and Business Affairs. In this role he designed the company’s
international cable and satellite distribution strategy and became the
driving force behind Music Choice’s groundbreaking European music
copyright negotiations. In 1996, whilst maintaining his responsibility
for Strategy & Business Affairs, his role expanded to Director of Sales
& Marketing. Since then he has re-positioned the company as Europe’s
leading audio provider, providing services to digital satellite, digital
and analogue cable, terrestrial radio, the Internet and mobile
technology to over seven million paying subscribers. Before joining
Music Choice, Mr Bazalgette spent nearly 10 years at KPMG specialising
in international media and entertainment consulting. Specific clients
included LWT, Classic FM, Teletext UK, the Canadian Government, the
Australian Film Commission and the National Geographic Society. A career
in the music industry means he has rather eclectic music taste,
everything from The Fall to Puccini can be found in his collection. His
other passion is Football – Brentford being the long-term favourite. Mr
Bazalgette, a qualified Chartered Accountant, is married with three sons
and lives in West London.
