Robert M. Smith

ROBERT M. SMITH is President and Chief Executive Officer and a
Board Member of ASB Financial Corp., a $150 million asset holding
company including American Savings Bank, fsb. American Savings is
a publicly owned bank with offices in Portsmouth and Waverly,
Ohio. A native of Portsmouth, Mr. Smith has been employed by
American Savings for 36 years, beginning as a teller in 1966.
Prior to working at American Savings, Mr. Smith served in the
United States Navy. He received his degree from Ohio University,
Athens, Ohio, graduated from the Academy for Financial Executives
at the Ohio State University and moved up the ladder at ASB from
teller to Treasurer to Executive Vice President and was named
President and CEO in 1998. Mr. Smith has been on the Board at
American Savings since 1985.
