Diamond Corporation Mr. Gannicott received his high school education in
England prior to immigrating to Canada in 1967 and settling in
Yellowknife, Northwest Territories where he immediately entered the
mining industry. He subsequently studied geology at the University of
Ottawa, graduating in 1975. Following a career with Cominco Ltd. in a
broad variety of Arctic mineral exploration programs, in 1985 he struck
out to pursue some independent northern mineral exploration projects. He
became involved with Canadian diamond exploration immediately following
the initial discovery of diamonds made by Dia Met Minerals in the Lac de
Gras area of the Northwest Territories in 1991. He has been both a
shareholder and director of Aber Diamond Corporation (formerly ‘Aber
Resources Ltd.’) since its inception as a diamond company in 1992. He
was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in September 1999. A
background with geostatistics has fostered an interest in the analysis
of diamonds as a mineral product. The complex nature of the raw material
and its diverse markets, has led to an interest in the special role of
Canadian diamonds in the international diamond market.
