Richard Stursberg

RICHARD STURSBERG became President and Chief Executive Officer of Cancom
on September 1, 1999. He had been President and CEO of Star Choice
Communications Inc., since March 1, 1999. Mr. Stursberg has over 15
years of experience in the communications industry, most recently as
President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Cable Television
Association (CCTA). Prior to joining the CCTA, Mr. Stursberg was
Executive Vice President of Strategic Planning and External Relations
with Unitel Communications Inc. (now AT&T Canada). He also held several
positions with the Federal Department of Communications, including
Assistant Deputy Minister of Telecommunications and Technology, and
Assistant Deputy Minister of Culture and Broadcasting. Mr. Stursberg is
the Chairman of the Canadian Television Fund. He currently sits on the
Board of Governors of the Banff Television Festival, as well as the
Government of Canada’s Sectoral Advisory Group on International Trade
(SAGIT) in Cultural Industries. Mr. Stursberg holds a Master’s and a
Bachelor’s degree from Carleton University. He also studied at the
Universite d’Aix-Marseilles (France). He completed graduate work in
management studies at Oxford University and in business studies at the
Graduate School of Business, University of London, England.
