RICHARD MERRICK is President and CEO of Postfuture. Mr. Merrick has 20
years of experience designing and marketing a wide variety of software
applications, operating systems, new media properties and innovative
Internet streaming technologies. Postfuture was founded on key
behavioral marketing techniques and technological advances resulting
from early Internet businesses and marketing programs developed by
Merrick beginning in 1994, today representing the leading edge of rich-
media publishing and customer relationship marketing. During the early
and mid 1990’s, Merrick was the technology founder of 7th Level SEVL/
LTWO) and was later appointed as CEO to lead the Company’s shift towards
the Internet. At 7th Level, Merrick was instrumental in the development
of the company’s world-class digital animation studio in Los Angeles and
Dallas while producing several award-winning CD-ROM titles and websites
with Disney, Monty Python, Howie Mandel and others. By 1994, Merrick led
the company’s Internet strategies and partnerships while managing
localization and international business development activities in San
Francisco, London, Munich and Tokyo. Later in 1998, Merrick designed the
Company’s patented voice-activated, “Agent 7” animated character
technology, forging partnerships with Real Networks, WaveTop and
Broadcast.com for broad distribution. At Micrografx in the late 1980’s
and early 90’s as the Director of Systems Software, he negotiated and
led the Company’s JDA partnership with IBM to develop the first 32-bit
graphics engine and Windows compatibility for OS/2 2.0. Prior to
Micrografx at CompuTrac, Merrick was first to incorporate relevance
ranking and filtering into a commercially available full-text search
engine installed at P&G, Eli Lilly, Heinz and others. Mr. Merrick
received his BA (magna cum laude) and MSCS degrees at the University of
Texas, Dallas.
