Phaneesh Murthy

PHANEESH MURTHY is a member of the Board, Senior Vice President and Head
of Sales & Marketing for Infosys Technologies, Ltd. He has more than 13
years of experience in both the software and information technology
industries across three continents. Mr. Murthy began his career in 1987
at Sonata Software, where he was responsible for product management,
including India’s first ERP. After five years of increasing
responsibility and achievement at Sonata, Infosys recruited him in 1992.
Since then, he has been largely responsible for orchestrating Infosys
sales and marketing strategies, making Infosys one of the largest and
most rapidly growing software services company in India. As a key member
of the company’s executive team, Mr. Murthy was instrumental in enabling
Infosys to become the first Indian company to be listed on NASDAQ.
Infosys has, over the past 18 months, achieved increased success in
market capitalization and net income percentages. Mr. Murthy is a well-
known speaker and has spoken at recent events, including the Milken
Institute 2000 Global Conference, Financial Technology Expo, the IT
Outsourcing Conference, DCI’s Conference on Outsourcing, the World
Research Group, Stanford University, best practices workshops and user
group meetings. Mr. Murthy has a BTech in Mechanical Engineering from
the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and an MBA from
the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad ‘ the affiliate of Harvard
in India.
