Montague Guild

Montague Guild is the CEO and Chief Investment Officer of the global investment
firm Guild Investment Management, located in Los Angeles. Mr. Guild is widely
recognized as a leading expert in the areas of global investing and economics.
His expert global market commentary is frequently sought after and quoted by
both the popular and financial media including The Wall Street Journal, USA
Today, Barron’s, Investment News, Investor’s Daily, and others. Born and raised
in Los Angeles, California, he was managing and growing his own modest trust
fund in the markets by the age of 15. He went on to receive a BA degree in
economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and an MBA degree
with highest honors, at Cal State University, Long Beach. During his time as a
student he was mentored by his professor Herb Kay, after receiving his MBA, he
worked as a securities analyst for a large bank and a hedge fund prior starting
Guild Investment Management. In 1971, Mr. Guild founded Guild Investment
Management. Guild Investment specializes in active and direct managed accounts.
Firmly believing that research from the bottom up is essential to maximize
portfolio growth, Mr. Guild and his team take the time necessary to get to know
their investments: they speak directly with and often personally visit companies
that they are considering for investment. In the early 70s, Mr. Guild publicly
predicted that the Nixon Administration’s closing of the gold window would cause
commodities to rise dramatically and the U.S. dollar to fall in value. Since
then, Mr. Guild has been looked to as an expert analyst on the effect of
politics on the global economy. He has been a writer and speaker on global
economic issues for over three decades. Every year, Mr. Guild travels to Europe
and Asia for both business and pleasure, visiting the countries in which his
firm does business.
