Michael Kearney

MICHAEL KEARNEY has presided as President and Chief Executive Officer of
SPACEHAB, Inc., since April 2003. His unique background and unsurpassed
knowledge of the space industry has enabled him to successfully lead the
company in its overall strategy, business and marketing efforts. Prior
to his promotion in April 2003, Mr. Kearney held several key roles on
SPACEHAB’s executive team. From December 2000 until April 2003, he
served as the company’s President and COO, where he oversaw the tactical
development of SPACEHAB’s participation in the human space flight
program. From 1994 to 2000, Mr. Kearney held the positions of Senior
Vice President and Vice President for Business Development, during which
he was integral in establishing and maintaining customer relationships,
supervising SPACEHAB, Inc.’s Houston Business Development division, and
positioning the company for International Space Station business. Mr.
Kearney’s strong background in government procurement and quality
assurance, flight crew issues and production management stems from
serving 25 years as a U.S. Navy Aeronautical Engineering Officer. While
in the armed forces, he gained invaluable experience in administration,
program management and aircraft depot management. He flew Navy fighter
aircraft both in combat and in a production acceptance role. Prior to
departing the Navy, he was appointed Program Manager for the A6/EA-6
aircraft, handling an annual budget of $10 billion. In 1991, he joined
McDonnell Douglas as Director of the McDonnell Douglas crew and robotics
systems business area, and was subsequently promoted to Director of
Advanced Product Development for the Space Station Division. Mr. Kearney
holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Engineering from the Navy
Postgraduate School, graduating cum laude.
