MARK MAWDSLEY, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of
Oiltec Resources Ltd., graduated in 1982 from the University of Calgary
with a BSc. in Mechanical Engineering. He spent four years with a junior
oil and gas company where his responsibilities included the operation
and optimization of over 300 oil wells, contribution to the design of
Manitoba’s first gas plant, and development of the company’s computer
information systems. In 1986, Mr. Mawdsley co-founded MGL Resources
Ltd., which was incorporated to act as the General Partner for three oil
and gas limited partnerships. As Vice President, Engineering, he was
involved with annual sales of partnership units, evaluation of property
acquisitions, and was responsible for all engineering activities
including, drilling, completion and operation of the partnerships’ oil
and gas wells. Mr. Mawdsley also acted in the same capacity for Methane
Minerals Ltd. and Five Star Resources Ltd., which managed limited
partnerships in tandem with MGL Resources Ltd. He co-founded Oiltec
Resources Ltd. in 1992; another general partner for an oil and gas
limited partnership. During his tenure with the general partners, Mr.
Mawdsley became expert in the application of horizontal drilling
technology, accomplishing a number of industry and world first
innovations in drilling and production. In 1993, with unanimous partner
approval, all of the general and limited partnership assets were rolled
into Oiltec Resources Ltd. and the company was taken public. As a senior
officer of Oiltec and a member of the Executive Committee, Mr. Mawdsley
has remained active in the company’s engineering operations as well as
contributing to corporate strategy. He is a member of the Association of
Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta and is
the company’s representative with the Canadian Association of Petroleum
Producers.
