John Ryan

JOHN RYAN co-founded Macrovision in February, 1983 and is the inventor
of the Macrovision Anticopy Process and the PhaseKrypt Scrambling
Method. He has 24 years of experience in television technology research
and development and has been awarded 45 U.S. patents. Prior to founding
Macrovision, Ryan worked at Ampex Corporation for six years as Manager
of Advanced Camera Development, and for three years at International
Video Corporation as a staff Engineer in Camera Development. Prior to
emigrating to the U.S., Ryan held various technical positions at
Yorkshire T.V. Ltd. in England and Radio Telefis Eireann in Ireland.
Ryan studied Physics and Mathematics at Galway University in Ireland,
and received Diplomas in Electronics and Communications Theory from City
and Guilds Institute of London in 1969. He is the author of several
technical articles on the subject of Television Camera Design.
