Gerard McGarrity

GERARD MCGARRITY is President, Chief Executive Officer and co-
Chair of the Board of Intronn Inc., a biotechnology company
specializing in RNA splicing and gene re-programming. Intronn is
his fourth early stage biotechnology company. Dr. McGarrity is a
graduate of St. Joseph’s University and Thomas Jefferson
University in Philadelphia. Prior to Intronn, Dr. McGarrity was
Founding Chief Scientific Officer of Cambridge Genetics Ltd,
Cambridge, UK. CGL purchased Cambridge Drug Discovery and took
the CDD name. He formerly was Senior Vice President of Genetic
Therapy Inc./Novartis. Novartis purchased Genetic Therapy Inc. in
1995 for a total investment of $310 million. He was also a
Founding Director of Quality Biologics Inc. Dr. McGarrity was CEO
of the Coriell Institute in New Jersey as well as Adjunct
Professor at Thomas Jefferson University and Robert Wood Johnson
Medical School. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of
Jefferson and was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award of the
College of Graduate Studies of Thomas Jefferson University. In
his academic career, he consulted for many biotechnology and
pharmaceutical companies. He served two terms on the Recombinant
DNA Advisory Committee of the National Institutes of Health,
including one term as Chairman of the RAC.
