Elizabeth H. Dvila

ELIZABETH H. DVILA joined VISX, Inc., on May 3, 1995 as Executive Vice
President and Chief Operating Officer. She became a Director in December
of 1995, was elevated to the position of President on February 26, 1999,
and became Chief Executive Officer of VISX on February 13, 2001. On May
4, 2001, Ms. Davila was also named Chairman of the Board. From 1977 to
1994, Ms. Davila held senior management positions with Syntex
Corporation, Palo Alto, CA, which included Vice President of Quality and
Reengineering, reporting to the President and COO, and was responsible
for organizing and directing the redesign of the corporation. In prior
positions at Syntex, Ms. Davila served as Vice President and Director of
their Drug Development Optimization Program, Vice President of US
Marketing and Sales for the Syva Company Medical Diagnostics Division
and Vice President of Marketing and Sales of the Syntex Ophthalmics
Division. Ms. Davila has a Master’s degree in Chemistry from the
University of Notre Dame and an MBA from Stanford University. She is
also a director on the Boards of VidaMed and Nugen.
