William D. Huse

DR. WILLIAM D. HUSE is Chief Executive Officer and President of Applied
Molecular Evolution, Inc. Dr. Huse founded AME and Novasite, and
currently serves as Chief Executive Officer and President of both
companies, as well as the CSO of AME. Dr. Huse founded AME as CSO, and
became CEO in January 1999. He redefined AME as a technology platform
company, successfully launching an IPO in July 2000, raising $101
million. Dr. Huse brings a strong scientific background as the pioneer
of large scale protein engineering, known as directed evolution. Prior
to founding AME, Dr. Huse was affiliated with the Scripps Research
Institute from 1989 to 1990. Prior to joining Scripps, Dr. Huse was Vice
President, Research and Development, at Stratagene, Inc. Dr. Huse was an
Assistant Professor at Yale University School of Medicine, Section of
Molecular Neurobiology. Dr. Huse received his BS in Chemistry from the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received his MD and PhD at the
Albert Einstein School of Medicine. Dr. Huse completed his post-doctoral
work at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.
