David D. Lee

DR. DAVID D. LEE is the principal founder of Silicon Image, Inc. Silicon
Image is a Silicon Valley startup that has developed a proprietary
semiconductor-based high-speed digital multimedia/video transmission
system technology known as PanelLink’ Technology. In its most
fundamental form, the technology implements a cost-effective, serial
physical link for high-bandwidth digital communications. PanelLink
technology provides a breakthrough in the cost of I/O bandwidth,
reducing the cost of high-speed I/O by one to two orders of magnitude
compared to other technologies. Prior to founding Silicon Image, Dr. Lee
was a principal investigator at Sun Labs and in the technology
development group at Sun Microsystems, where he worked on advanced
development projects including a high performance I/O architecture and a
number of multimedia projects. Before joining Sun, Dr. Lee spent six
years on the research staff at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC).
At PARC, he led a number of projects in the development of multimedia
systems integrating high resolution display technology and high
performance computing, including the design and development of LiveBoard
(electronic white board) and high resolution active matrix LCDs. Dr.
Lee received his PhD, Master’s of Science and Bachelor’s of Science in
Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from U.C. Berkeley.
